Sustainability in Interior Architecture

Sustainability in (interior) architecture will continue to gain importance in the future. Since many people are still not aware of what they can change through ecological interior planning, (interior) architects bear a great responsibility.

Even if perfectly sustainable planning remains an illusory ideal, they can still bring about positive change, both by using ecological materials and products and through holistic sustainable planning - as partly presented in this work. Making clients aware of alternative products and explaining their advantages - including the possible additional financial expense - these are among the tasks of the sustainability-conscious interior architect.

Many new sustainable products are constantly coming onto the market, expanding the choice and making sustainable design more popular. However, it is important not to blindly trust certifications, but to demand or, if possible, carry out a more in-depth analysis.

Sustainable interior architecture does not just mean using recycled or natural products, but considering all parameters from transport to disposal at the end of the life of each material and product, as well as appropriate planning.
